Top 10…Asia!

This was a hard list to compile. I’ve fallen in love with many places throughtout Asia and made some incredible memories along the way. Hopefully on my next trip I get to experience Laos, the rest of vietnam and Indonesia. I’d also love to visit Japan but realistically it won’t be this winter.

10) Kathmandu, Nepal

The capital of Nepal, I took a stop here after visiting India and fell into the culture. Incredible temples Including the UNESCO site Bhaktapur. Food and hostels are both very affordable, you also get incredible views flying in of the Himalayas. I took a 3 day trip to chitwan national park and got very lucky to see 2 rhinos.

9) Macau
I just did a day trip from Hong Kong which takes around 40 minutes by ferry. Macau is asias very own Las Vegas, with hotels such as the Wynn, Parisian and galaxy. Alongside this it also has a historical past with the old town which has Portuguese influences as it was ruled until 1999.

8) Bangkok, Thailand
Its humid and chaotic but I love it. I’ve passed through Bangkok 3 times and every time I’ve made new discoveries. Its full of amazing temples and great for shopping. Even taking a trip down the river is full of excitement. A night out on Khaosan road is not to be missed, however if you want to sleep this is not the place to stay with music playing full volume until 6am!

7) Hong Kong
One of the most famous skylines in the world, which looks stunning during the day and night. With plenty of attractions to keep you entertained . I’ve been 2 times and still didn’t make it to Disneyland. Lantau island was a personal favourite with the cable car journey to the buddha statue. I hiked on Christmas day to lion rock which was an unforgettable view.

6) Ho chi Minh city, Vietnam
After spending 6 weeks in Vietnam teaching English I fell in love with this city. With parallels to Bangkok there was alot of history along with its own version of khason road, Bui Vien was a crazy night out. Hostels are insanely cheap. There are also many sky bars to check out and budget friendly food options.

5) Singapore
The cleanest city I’ve been to. It was also fairly quiet when I visited in January. Highlights included universal studio and the zoo which was the best one I’ve been too. Of course not to be missed the marina bay area. Singapore is expensive, you can find good deals for food and drink though with happy hours and discount apps.

4) Siem reap, Cambodia
I only spent a few days here in Cambodia but I learnt in that short time how friendly the people were. Be sure to get up early to see the sunrise at Angkor Wot. It does get very busy but it’s well worth it. Also ensure to take a trip on Tonlé Sap which is a huge lake with floating homes, shops and restaurants.

3) Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia
This city blew me away the first time I visited. It’s a real fusion of cultures and sights. The Batu caves are really impressive as is the skyline. You can get a really good appartment with rooftop pool for around 25€ a night. The transport around the city is second to none with buses in the centre operating free of charge and with WiFi.

2) Ao Nang, Thailand

One of my favourite places in Thailand. Endless dining choices, great beaches and excursions. Whether you want to stay by the beach, go island hopping, treck through jungles or learn how to cook Thai food you can find it all here.  It’s easily accessible with direct flights even from Europe to Krabi.

1) El Nido, Philippines

My favourite stop in the Philippines also took the top spot in Asia. I loved the laidback vibe, the good food options and the stunning scenary. I was lucky when I visited it wasn’t too busy. Even landing into El Nido airport the views were incredible.
